Schist Cladding refers to traditional 150mm thick stone walling. This can be installed to timber cavity or masonry substrates as required.

Standard stone cladding requires engineered foundations so must be considered at planning stage, on the plus side it is extremely cost efficient compared to a lightweight veneer where stone must be cut down to 30-40mm.

Lightweight Veneers (lightweight solutions) were developed for installation of stonework where conventional 150mm stone cladding is unsuitable. Lightweight solutions are commonly used along side a normal 150mm schist stone cladding in areas such as chimneys or building renovations. We specialise in real Central Otago schist veneers, rather than imported or fake stone sheets seen elsewhere.

Schist stone patios, paving and pathways can effortlessly blend the surrounding landscape with your home. Schist garden walls create great boundaries in a timeless manner and schist fire places are often regarded as the heart of a home. The schist rock absorbs the heat of the fire and works perfectly as a heat bank, releasing the heat long after the fire has faded.

Seismic resistant stone cladding solutions is a great way of future proofing your home. We use stone ties and stone clips developed in response to the Canterbury Earthquakes. Our stainless steel Stoneclad fixings are up to 400% stronger than a conventional brick tie.
